Hormone Replacement Therapy

A bioidentical hormone is a molecule identical to a hormone produced by the human body.  BHRT is intended to replace levels of hormones that are reduced as a consequence of aging, disease, or surgery. These bioidentical hormones can effectively control the menopausal symptoms of hot flashes, insomnia, urinary tract infections, and vaginal dryness. The bioidentical hormones used in BHRT are beneficial to their users in that they may produce fewer and milder side effects than synthetic hormones.

Typically, when hormone replacement therapy is prescribed, doctors will suggest that women use low doses for a short period of time to help alleviate the most severe symptoms. Here at Pleasant Hills Apothecary, a compounding pharmacy, we have a deep history in compounding bioidentical hormones, and our dedication to the art of BHRT compounding means that you are in well-trained hands.  Each body is different, and your specific needs in hormone replacement therapy are unique to you.

Decisions about whether to start, stop, or change your HRT should made on an individual basis only after consulting your physician and the Pleasant Hills Apothecary. Our goal is to work together with your physician and you to solve medication problems and optimize your health and well-being.

We work with different types of hormones to help address your medical needs. Each person’s body is different and what one requires to specifically address their personal needs is unique. Some of the different hormones we work with include:

  • Testosterone
  • Progesterone
  • Estrogen
  • Melatonin
  • DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone)
  • Thyroid
